49ers place Drake Jackson on injured reserve, will be out at least four games
The 49ers' player, Drake Jackson, started the season strong with four sacks in the first game against Pittsburgh. However, his playing time has decreased a lot recently, and now he's on the injured reserve list due to a knee injury. This means he'll miss at least the next four games.
Jackson, who was the top draft pick last year in the second round, used to share playing time with Clelin Ferrell and Nick Bosa at the beginning of the season. But things changed after the team traded for defensive end Cameron Young on October 31. Jackson's playing time decreased, and he only played 10 snaps in the last game before the bye week.
He was dealing with a knee injury during the week, practiced limitedly, and didn't practice at all on Friday. As a result, he was placed on Injured Reserve just a day before the 49ers' next game against the Jaguars.
The team will decide after four games whether to bring Jackson back to the active roster or keep him on Injured Reserve for the rest of the season, depending on how severe his injury is and if they need an additional player for the defensive line.
Despite struggling in his rookie season last year, Jackson impressed the coaching staff with his hard work during the offseason and training camp. He transformed his body and earned praise for his efforts. In the first four games of this season, he had three sacks, but his playing time significantly dropped in the last four games.
To fill Jackson's spot on the roster, cornerback Shemar John-Charles was activated from the practice squad. Additionally, wide receiver Willie Snead IV and linebacker Curtis Robinson were promoted from the practice squad for the upcoming game against the Jaguars.
