US Says More Than 400 American Citizens, Residents Have Left Gaza

Israel-Hamas Conflict: The United States is helping more than 400 American citizens and their families, totaling about 1,000 people, to leave the Gaza Strip. This is because there has been a lot of fighting in Gaza. The Israeli military has been bombing Gaza since October 7 after Palestinian militants from Hamas killed 1,400 people and took more than 240 people as prisoners.

The U.S. government is working with Egypt and Israel to make sure it's safe for American citizens and their families to leave Gaza. They are trying to help more people leave, but it's a complicated situation.

So far, more than 400 U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents have been able to leave Gaza, but some are still there. This situation is changing, and more Americans might be able to leave soon.

In the fighting, many people, including children, have been killed in Gaza. More than 10,000 people have lost their lives. Some people have been able to leave Gaza through a border crossing with Egypt, but it was closed for a few days after an Israeli strike.

The U.S. is also working with Israel to make sure humanitarian supplies can get into Gaza quickly. Right now, it takes a long time because of inspections. Both Israel and Hamas, the group in charge of Gaza, don't want to stop fighting, and they have different conditions for a ceasefire.

The U.S. supports Israel's position that hostages should be freed before there's a ceasefire. However, they are asking for breaks in the fighting for humanitarian reasons and to talk about releasing the hostages.
