Joe Biden campaign says Donald rump echoed Hitler with use of word 'vermin'
U.S. President Joe Biden's team for the 2024 election criticized former
President Donald Trump on Monday. They said Trump used language similar to
Adolf Hitler when he called his political enemies "vermin" at a rally in New
Hampshire on Saturday. Trump claimed fraud cost him the 2020 election and
said he would "root out communists, Marxists, fascists, and radical left
thugs."
Many people criticized Trump's comments, especially because they were made
on Veterans Day. Some historians pointed out that his language was similar
to autocrats who dehumanize their enemies. A spokesperson for Biden's
campaign, Ammar Moussa, said Trump was echoing Hitler and Mussolini and
trying to divide the country.

Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for Trump's campaign, rejected the comparisons
and called those making the assertion "snowflakes" who are overly sensitive.
Trump has a history of using strong language against his perceived enemies,
including calling immigrants entering the country illegally "poison."
White House spokesperson Andrew Bates also said Trump's use of "vermin"
echoed Hitler and Mussolini and was unrecognizable to the founders of the
U.S. Tim Naftali, a historian, explained that using words like "vermin" has
been a tactic by dictators to dehumanize their critics and create fear. He
emphasized that stripping opponents of their humanity can lead to violence
