Donald Trump seeks to dismiss election interference charges

Donald Trump, the former president, is asking a court to drop charges against him for interfering in the election. His lawyers argue that as president, he had "absolute immunity" and that questioning the 2020 election was part of his job, not a crime.

They say his statements about the election were to ensure fair elections and are within his official duties. They believe these actions can't be the basis for criminal charges against him.

In another case about mishandling classified documents, Trump is requesting a delay until after the 2024 presidential election. His lawyers argue they haven't had enough access to evidence, and holding a fair trial during a campaign is difficult.

Trump's legal team is also seeking the dismissal of 34 charges of falsifying business records. These charges are related to a payment of $130,000 to Stormy Daniels, an adult film actress, to keep quiet about their encounter. Trump's lawyers call the case a prolonged and politically motivated investigation.

Trump maintains that these charges are politically driven and part of a larger effort against him and his businesses. Despite his legal challenges, he pleads not guilty to the election interference charges and continues to deny any wrongdoing in the various cases against him.
